What Do You Want To Do
The best place to start is with something you know. It may sound obvious, but don't dismiss the knowledge you have already aquired.
What ever your line of work for example. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. All of these people have one thing in common, they all know about "something". Whether or not it is related to their job, professions, or hobby they all have interests and knowledge. So use what you own in your own head, don't waste time researching at this stage. Get creative about how you can create a Passive Income Business today.
Before you start you must have a Dream. A Dream of what you would like to achieve. This has two main functions, one it will motivate you and two it will motivate you. Without motivation you'll achieve zero. Find an image of something that you would really like. Find an image of your dream it could be a new car or Luxury cruse. Get the image and stick on a wall, fridge bathroom mirror. Put it somewhere that you will see it every day this will remind you of your dream and help motivate you to do any and every thing to get what you're really want. Seriously, right now take a couple of minutes to think of something you would like. Start small if you like, take baby steps first it could be a watch or a weekend break. I promise you this method works for 1,000's and 1,00s of people just like you. Go to Google images find an images of your first Dream. Do the above. Now you can start.

Domain Registration
This could be your first lesson on Passive Income. Once you have your subject for your shop front you need to call your shop a name. Try and include the subject of your shop within the Name for example Fishing tips. Now Fishing Tips is probably already taken, so we have to ad a MODIFIER. Now a modifier could be something like HQ so your domain name would be www.fishingtipshq.com now always try and register a .com I always think the .com will get indexed by Google quicker so therefore will generate traffic quicker for the search term FISHING TIPS.
A few more examples of MODIFIERS like HQ would be, HOME, CITY, WORLD, PROS or PRO and many more.
So with this being pointed out, don't let the illusion of a "good domain name" be the selling point to buy a website. You'll learn one way or another a "good domain" is made not purchased, and that domain names, no matter how good they appear do not magically market themselves. Even after reading this many will still see a "good domain" buy and hope for magic. Well for those who do, I actually hope you find it, because I'm afraid you'll be in for some disappointment. The exception to this is if the seller can show that website (along with the domain) has good and consistent page rank. This info can be found easily. As a general rule of thumb you'll want your domain name to be short, concise and easy to brand and market, but then again, these aspects just make the marketing easier. In theory it won't matter what you call yourself, it only matters what meaning customers assign to what you call yourself. This assignment of meaning is marketing.

If you already know programming and coding languages you'll will not have a problem getting started. But if you do not then I can offer a couple of alternatives for the novice

But I think Joomla is the more flexible way forward Joomla is the world's number one Open Source system today. There are literately millions and millions of web sites constructed in Joomla. Why? Because it is so versatile it has 1,000s of enthusiasts building components that you can bolt to your web site like e commerce booking on line auction sites directory sites Portals Community Builder Sites, Forums (like mine) you name it and Joomla will probably be able to do it.
This will be good for you because Word Press is limited to what you can achieve for example:
If you wanted to eventually have a local directory of say Tourist attractions in your area and you wanted to let B&B hotels advertise for free or pay a small charge for the pleasure, Joomla is the system to use plus a site like tourism and a directory of B&B's will attract a lot more traffic than a simply blog

Creating Content
This is probably the most important part of making your Dream a reality. Now if you have chosen a subject for your Passive Income Dream web site your half way there. All you have to do is transfer the knowledge hints and tips to your content in your website and let the whole world know about it, don't worry Google will read your site and start to index your pages so people will come visit and browse
There are three main types of content.

2. Dynamic
3. Automatic
"static" is where the pages is fixed and will likely not change. For example description of products and services, address contact
Dynamic is a blog, or forum, or ongoing story creation that will constantly be added to and therefore constantly be changing.
Dynamic is where a user can interact with your site in a dynamic and meaningful way, the more they will return to it or the more sticky your site become face book is probably the most famous example of this type of content.

Now don't think it will take for ages as at needn't hit on the right idea learn what you need to learn and you could have a substantial ongoing income within a year. Marketing
Nothing happens in this world today without a sale being made so this is where you Market yourself and your web site. You need traffic or visitors to your site, visitors then have the opportunity to try one of the products or services you are promoting, if the visitors buy you make money.
Now one of the cheapest ways to get traffic is to get on page one of Google, Yahoo and Bing. I would forget about all of the other search engines. If you're in the UK 70 to 80% of searches are done using Google so if you're in the UK and after a UK audience only I would concentrate on Google
One of the cheapest and most effective marketing tools is a blog. You can use you have many free blogs see www.blogger.com/. You could have say 3 or 4 specialist blogs all directing traffic to your main site where you can have a range of affiliate links or to start with uoyou can try one free blog and gradually increase your involvement as you become more experienced.
Get yourself into a routine
A good routine would be to write at least a post a day about your subject. A post is also known sometimes as a page/story, whatever you call it the bottom line is it is a unique piece of content that gets added to your site. If you can do this every day you will have 365 pages in a year. This will help drive traffic to your site and a post may take you an hour a day. The more you do the more content you will have an the more traffic you will get
What to write
People often search for "how-to" do something. The Internet is here for people to find information, entertainment, or to purchase something. You only search for information when you don't know how to do something, so it's logically flows the most searched for type of information would be "how-to" information.
